Workspace members
A workspace’s members come from GitHub, and HeyDeer has no seat fees. Every member can see reviews for repositories they can access on GitHub; admins also manage settings and billing.
Who is a member
For an organization, members are its active GitHub members, read live from GitHub. A personal account’s workspace has one member: the account owner.
Roles
Admins are the GitHub organization owners, the person who set up the workspace, and members an admin promotes. The role applies only in HeyDeer and doesn’t change anyone’s GitHub permissions.
| Area | Member | Admin |
|---|---|---|
| Repositories and reviews | Repositories they can access on GitHub. | The same. |
| Start or cancel a review | With write access to the repository. | With write access to the repository. |
| Review rules and schedules | View only. | Change. |
| Workspace settings, Usage & billing | No access. | Full access. |
| Connectors | No access. | Only admins marked GitHub owner or Account owner. |
Manual review access in Review rules can limit who requests reviews. See Who can run commands.
Change a member’s role
- Open Workspace settings → Members.
- In the member’s role menu, choose Admin. This works even before they first sign in.
- The member now shows Promoted to admin. To undo it, choose Member.
You can’t change your own role. GitHub organization owners always stay admins; change their role on GitHub.
Select Sync with GitHub to reload the list. The list needs the GitHub App’s Members permission; see GitHub App and permissions.
