Publishing options

OptionDefaultWhat it does
Automatic approvalOffLets HeyDeer approve pull requests that meet your approval conditions. See Automatic approval.
Publish GitHub checkOnShows review progress and the full report in a check named HeyDeer Review on the pull request’s latest commit.
Fail the check when issues are foundOffFails the check for findings, open or unconfirmed earlier concerns, and incomplete reviews; with it off, these reviews pass or end Neutral. Some incomplete reviews fail either way; see Conclusions. Appears only while the check is published.
Post review comments on the pull requestOnPosts one GitHub review per run, including automatic approvals. New findings appear on the changed lines or in the review body.
Resolve addressed HeyDeer conversationsOnResolves HeyDeer’s own conversations whose concern is fixed, or that someone with write access decided not to act on.

Turning options off

With comments off, the HeyDeer Review check carries the whole review, and HeyDeer doesn’t approve pull requests or resolve its conversations. It still rechecks earlier concerns and counts them in the check.

With both off, reviews still run and use credits, and results appear only on the Reviews page in HeyDeer. This suits trying HeyDeer before your team sees it; see Rolling out to your team.

When HeyDeer needs context it can’t find, it asks under Needs clarification; to answer, see Add missing context.

Review comments with findings include a Fix with HeyDeer link for choosing findings for HeyDeer to fix; see Fix with HeyDeer.

Each review rechecks the concerns in HeyDeer’s earlier conversations; see Earlier concerns, and Declining a finding to decide not to act on one.
