Auto-reload and usage limits

Auto-reload buys credits before you run out, and a usage limit caps the credits the workspace uses in a week or month. Once the workspace has chosen a plan, workspace admins find both in Usage & billing → Overview → Spending controls.

Turn on auto-reload

Auto-reload is off by default. When it’s on and your balance falls below a threshold, HeyDeer charges your card for a fixed amount of add-on credits.

  1. In Usage & billing → Overview → Spending controls, select Turn on next to Auto-reload.
  2. In When your balance falls below, enter a whole-dollar amount. HeyDeer shows it in credits.
  3. In Credit value to add before discount, enter how much to buy. It must be at least the threshold.
  4. Select Turn on. If your balance is already below the threshold, check the box that confirms the charge and select Save and charge instead; HeyDeer adds credits right away.

Each reload uses your plan’s volume discount. To change the amounts, select Edit; to stop, select Turn off.

Auto-reload needs an active paid plan and charges only your subscription card. If you change that card, select Edit to approve the new one, or the next reload turns auto-reload off.

When auto-reload fails

If a reload charge fails or can’t be confirmed, auto-reload turns off, Spending controls shows why, and HeyDeer emails the workspace.

Update your card with Billing portal in Overview, or choose a plan, then turn auto-reload on again. If the charge couldn’t be confirmed, or payments are paused for the workspace, contact HeyDeer first.

Credit purchases, including auto-reload, have a 24-hour limit. When the next reload would go over it, auto-reload pauses and tries again later.

Set a usage limit

A usage limit is a number of credits that reviews and fixes together may use in a calendar week or month. There is no limit by default.

  1. In Usage & billing → Overview → Spending controls, select Set limit next to Usage limit, or Edit if one is set.
  2. Choose Weekly or Monthly.
  3. In Credit limit, enter the number of credits, at least 100.
  4. Select Save.

To remove the limit, choose No limit and save.

OptionPeriod
WeeklyResets every Monday at 00:00 UTC.
MonthlyResets on the 1st of each month at 00:00 UTC.

When the limit is reached

Spending controls shows Limit reached. New reviews and fixes don’t start until the limit resets or you raise it.

Running reviews and fixes finish, so a period can end over its limit.

Blocked requests don’t restart on their own; request them again. Adding credits doesn’t lift a usage limit. See When credits run out.

Keep costs predictable

Keep Default review depth at Standard, set Review schedule to Once per PR or lower Maximum automatic reviews per PR, and skip pull requests with automatic review filters. Usage & billing → Usage shows where credits go.
